Shiatsu

Shiatsu for Horses :-
Shiatsu is one of the many branches of Oriental medicine. It has a similar theory to acupuncture, but not the same technique. Shiatsu is a hands-on treatment, which uses varying amounts of pressure of the body’s meridians or energy channels to achieve the desired effect. The meridians of the body can be divided into five elements. Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. Shiatsu balances the “Ki”- life force energy- so that the horse may enjoy maximum health. Shiatsu has been adapted for use on horses for the past 25 years.

Using the same principals as Acupuncture (without the needles) and Acupressure, it is a traditional hands-on therapy which can help a wide range of conditions. From general symptoms of poor health (both mental and physical), to specific injuries, or to just be a relaxing massage to promote wellbeing. It is used to re-balance energy throughout the body. This energy is called Chi or sometimes Qi or Ki, It is directed through the body along channels known as Meridians. Shiatsu is a gentle non-invasive therapy, using stretches, and rotations, and always works alongside, and with vetinary referral.

"Always cause your horse to follow the path of least resistance. Then place an opening for him to pass through so that the path of least resistance becomes the direction you want him to go in." - Monty Roberts.
