Why A Massage could be good for your horse!
Regular massage sessions can improved your horse’s well being. Ensuring that the horse’s muscles and mind are kept supple and relaxed will support all the hard work you do together. From the weekend hack to top competition level, all horses can benefit.
Equine Sports Massage has many benefits, here are just a few:
- Improves circulation
- Lymphatic drainage
- Improved muscle tone
- Improved gait quality
- Relieves tension and stress
- Helps horse to relax mentally as well as physically
- Release of muscle spasms.
This type of therapy is a wonderful way of easing your horses tired aching muscles. It is a useful addition to your training programme and is ideal to use both Pre and Post competition.
Each horse I have treated has enjoyed their massage and many find it has made a great difference to their lives. Some of them have changed both emotionally and psychologically and are now completely different characters, being much more laid back and more affectionate. Massage can help with the rehabilitation of the horse following injury or box rest etc. It can actually help to maintain muscle tone on a horse on box rest and no exercise. As with all complementary therapies Veterinary liaison is essential.
WORKSHOPS.
As well as offering Equine Massage for your horse, workshops are available. These are run as a mobile workshop at your yard, suited for 4-6 people. The first course is an introduction to equine massage: covering its benefits for you and your horse, muscles and their functions, and massage strokes and techniques.
