CHIROPRACTIC FOR HEALTHY HORSES

Not everyone has heard of chiropractic treatment for animals. However, that's what I do. Dogs, cats and horses, farm animals, exotic creatures in zoos, and various unusual pets can all benefit from this gentle holistic treatment. I'm a McTimoney Chiropractor, qualified to treat both people and animals. More...

The Bowen Technique a gentle, non-intrusive therapy which has transformed the lives of many horses – and their riders!

The Bowen Technique was originally developed by Tom Bowen, who lived and worked in Geelong, Australia in the 1960’s. Originally the therapy was only used on humans, but Tom Bowen also worked with animals – reportedly treating one horse which came second in the Melbourne Cup. More...

Kathrine Wilson

Kathrine lives in the Southeast of England. She has qualified with Kelly Marks and holds the Monty Roberts Preliminary Certificate in Horsemanship. Therefore she is able to help you with many problems or just day-to-day training with your horse, using non-violent methods, which train you and your horse to have a better life together. Issues such as loading, (or not!!), leading, biting etc. Maybe you would like a better understanding of how your horse thinks and feels, how to set clear boundaries and improve the bond between you. Individual training or group sessions are available for booking.

Kathrine also works as an Equine Body Worker. This is a branch of equine massage, which has been around for centuries. She qualified with “Equinology TM” in 2000. Equine massage helps to alleviate many issues associated with our horses of today. Problems such as tight muscles, shortened stride, loss of stride quality, tension, hanging a leg, bad temper can all greatly effect your horse’s quality of life and your riding time. Massage should be used alongside a proper health, feeding, farriery and veterinary routine to maximise your horse’s potential.

Kathrine works throughout the southeast as well as travelling regularly to Italy to collaborate with the horse welfare business, “The World of the Horse.”

What Kathrine is saying about her work.. “The main enjoyment I get, is seeing the difference a massage can make to a horses life. It really can turn their lives around. When a horse has been suffering from tight, sore muscles for some time, his work has usually slowly degenerated and his character can change from been the laid back horse he was into a bad tempered grouch that no one enjoys spending time with! As I am working on the horse, the owner can normally see the effect it is having as their horse visibly relaxes. He often begins to yawn, lower his head, and even fall asleep!”

“When a person calls me out because they are having problems with their horse, they are often in a very distressed way. Often the relationship between them and their horse is at an all time low. Both of them feel in a lose – lose situation. My job is to turn this around so they feel in a win – win situation and feel more confident in each other and in where they are going.”

Kathrine also offers mobile massage workshops. These are designed for groups of 4-6 people. They can be one or two day in duration. Work sheets are sent ahead of the day to allow people to familiarize themselves with the muscle and bone names and functions. On the day we cover topics such as, benefits and contraindications of massage. Massage techniques, (these are demonstrated and taught to you), muscle names, locations and functions, safety issues and much more.

The cost of these courses is £60 per person per day + travel expenses. This includes worksheets, folders and laminated handouts. Other courses on Horse Psychology are available on request and can be tailored to suit individual needs. Such “Bonding and Boundaries”, “Leading and Loading” or “Getting rid of Demons!”
